No 42. West of Ireland Marathon Series
June 19th 2010
Well as usual bed late, got up early and drove to Salthill Galway still half asleep and got changed. Started running at 10am with the sun belting down on us (fotr a change). At halfway felt great if a little tired but then at mile 15 i ran out of power. All i wanted was some chocolate. I stopped a few times to wait for a few of the runners behind me if they had any money but of course no one had. Eventually i got to a friends house and called in but just my luck no one home. After a while a car stopped and a lady got out and thnak god she had a little girl in the backseat who very kindly gave me some sweets and some money so i stuffed my face and felt life getting back into my veins. of course the next shop was about 5 miles away so off i went with my 5 euro dreaming about what i was going to buy. I then came across my good friend Ray on route just before the shop so in we both went and bought 2 bottles of coke and walked the remaining 2 miles to the finish, drinking our bottles of coke with the Galway Sun on our skins, and life is good. Thank you little girl for your sweets and thank you for the €5 (that reminds me- i must give it back!!!!
